This standard was prepared by the Joint Standards Australia/Standards New Zealand Committee SF-034, Portable Ladders, to supersede AS/NZS 1892.1:1996, Portable ladders, Part 1: Metal and AS/NZS 1892.3:1996, Portable ladders, Part 3: Reinforced plastic. After consultation with stakeholders in both countries, Standards Australia and Standards New Zealand decided to develop this Standard as an Australian Standard rather than an Australian/New Zealand Standard.
